The Union Jack Makes a Beautiful Rug.

Wednesday, September 14th, 2011

A well-known symbol is made into a distressed looking rug by Vivienne Westwood for The Rug Company.  This is a great take on something very old, and would fit perfectly in Austin homes, both for modern interior design and traditional interior design.  It instantly brightens up a space with its rich colors, and we think it is just plain fun.

Another Quick Note On Assymetry…

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011

We’ve talked about how assymetry works well in rooms when implemented in the architecture, but check out some of these assymetrical rugs.  They are interesting, without being over the top, and they carry a traditional thread, but with a twist.  Traditionally, rugs have been repeating patterns, that over the years, have grown in scale.  For those of you non-conformists, it is now easy to find a rug that is a deviation from the expected.

Modular Floorcoverings…

Monday, March 14th, 2011

Flor is a modular carpet flooring company.  In other words, you can purchase carpet tiles to be arranged in any pattern or color and arrange them however you want.  They have some newly inspired rugs, as well (see the orange cow rug below).  The great thing about modular carpet tiles is that if damage occurs, you can just replace the damaged piece, a great innovation in interior design.  They are commercial grade and are easily cleaned, and would look great in Austin’s lofts.

A Cow of a Different Color…

Friday, January 14th, 2011

Cowhide rugs are a thing of the west…but this is no ordinary rug.  Kyle Bunting has taken a fresh spin on the old cow, which is perfect for homeowners in Austin.  It almost seems sinful to walk on such beautiful pieces of art, but being cowhide, these rugs will undoubtedly wear well and be long lasting.  Bunting’s rugs can be customized to fit anyone’s color palette, interior design style, and size.

byHenzel area rugs are both striking and beautiful.  They blur the line between art and home furnishings, which is what good interior design should do – make the person experiencing the space feel as if they are walking through well thought-out art.  Check out some of our picks for contemporary, yet soft, selections for your glamorous space.
