Eskayel – Wonderful Wallpaper.

Monday, January 2nd, 2012

Shanan Campanaro has manipulated her watercolor and ink drawings into something amazing – wallpapers that look like art, because they come directly from original works, placed into patterns.  Campanaro graduated with her BFA from Central St. Martins in London in 2003.  From there, she developed an amazing studio practice, and has had support of many notable design groups, and is even a senior designer with Express.  Her idea for wallpaper came to her while re-designing her apartment in 2008.  Today, she has a broad line of beautiful and innovative collections.  “To The Trade”small_feudal_facet_slate.jpg

Maya Romanoff – Wallcovering Genius…

Monday, April 11th, 2011

Maya Romanoff is an icon in the world of interior design.  After studying at the University of California at Berkeley, Romanoff took time to travel the world to open his eyes to the world of design and gain real-world experience.  So much of interior design is about where you’ve been…it shapes your approach to design.

“Along with fabrics and wood, Romanoff gives free reign to his love of natural, genuine materials. Gold leaf, mica, grass and bamboo are part of the mix, but the most captivating introduction has been Beadazzled, a collection of wall coverings made of tiny glass beads. The collection has not only has taken the interior furnishings world by storm, but has earned a permanent place in the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum.”

Check out some of Maya Romanoff’s wallpapers below.  They are unique, beautiful…sophisticated.

Beautiful Paper For The Wall…

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011

Wallpaper can add so much drama to a house, which is what interior designers strive to do.  It is a fantastic way to add a touch of whimsy or class to a space.  It can be less expensive than having a mural painted on an accent wall, and have just as dramatic of an effect.  With so many great papers to choose from, you are sure to find something that strikes a chord with you, and there are some amazing resources, such as Stockton Hicks Laffey here in Austin, that carry amazing lines ( “To The Trade”).

Salvador Dali’s Kind of Wallpaper…

Friday, January 28th, 2011

If Salvador Dali was alive today, I am sure he would have this surreal wallpaper in his home.  Surrealien is a German based company that has developed a process of placing wallpaper so that it looks distorted by the objects it surrounds.  They do it by taking careful measurements of your space and the things that are on or within the walls (doorways, wall sconces, that perfect piece of art) and designing the paper for your interior space specifically.  This is a very cool commercial application, but it could be a little too much for the average homeowner’s everyday living.  Either way, it is intriguing.  For more on Surrealien, go to http://www.surrealien.de/Surrealien.pdf.
